Eleanor Loftsgard will celebrate her 90th birthday with an open house from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 19, at Traditions in West Union.

The celebration is being hosted by Eleanor’s four children, Kay Schmainda, Kendra Fauser, Norm Loftsgard, Kara Roden, and their families.

Please come and enjoy lunch with Eleanor and share some memories. She requests no gifts, please.

Eleanor was born April 20, 1924. Coincidentally, Easter Sunday fell on that day 90 years ago, just as it does this year!

Marvin and Diane Berg of Garnavillo, formerly of Postville, will be observing their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, April 19. They plan to celebrate the day with their children and grandchildren.

Marvin Berg and Diane Mork were united in marriage on April 19, 1964, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Postville. 

Their family includes two children, James (Tina) Berg of West Union and Sara (Jason) Rael of Marion, along with five grandchildren.

In their honor, the couple’s family is also hosting a card shower, inviting all relatives and friends to participate.

Born on Jan. 28, 2014, Bryce weighed 7 pounds 4 ounces and measured 21 inches long.

He joins his big sister Brynn.

His grandparents are Tom and Stephanie Rose of Monona and Bruce and Sharon Kleve of Clermont.

Great-grandparents are Alvera Kleve of Postville, Del J. and Mary Ann Hageman of Ossian, and Myrtle Egan of Harpers Ferry.

Great-great-grandmother is Florence Hackman of Decorah.

Jerry and Elaine Johnson, formerly of West Union, will note their 50th wedding anniversary on Thursday, April 3. 

A private family dinner will be held to celebrate this special occasion.

Jerry Johnson and Elaine Thompson were united in marriage on April 3, 1964, at Central Lutheran Church in Winona, Minn. 

Three children were born to this marriage: Deb (Dan) Lafferty, Kimberly Johnson, and Troy (Chantel) Johnson. The couple’s family also includes five grandchildren.  Jerry and Elaine Johnson would enjoy hearing from area friends and relatives. They currently reside at 1005 Linden Street, Decorah, IA 52101.

April 14 will mark the 25th wedding anniversary of Brad and Cathie Opperman of Sumner.

Brad Opperman and Cathie Strang were married April 14, 1989, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawkeye. They have been residents of Sumner for the past 25 years.

The couple are the parents of five children, Dr. Brian (Heidi) Fereday of Sumner, Commander Brett (Janelle) Fereday of Spicewood, Texas, Kelly (Steve) Bose of Jesup, Colton (Grace) Opperman and Bobby Opperman, both of Waterloo. Brad and Cathie also have 11 grandchildren.
