The North Fayette Valley boys’ track team notched a win in New Hampton on Thursday earning 181.5 points to easily outdistance second-place Waukon’s 132 points.

Derrick Kuehner, Danny Halva, David Jellings, and Hunter Hoopes all achieved first-place finishes in at least one event at Thursday’s meet, which featured six boys teams.

Kuehner ran a personal-best 10.91 in the 100m dash, qualifying him for the Drake Relays. Meanwhile, Jellings took first in the 440m hurdles, Hoopes in the long jump, and Halva in the 1600m and 3200m events. Jellings also placed second in the 400m dash, as did Halva in the 800m run.

Other notable finishes for the TigerHawks included Trevor Hurd with a third-place finish in the 110m hurdles and Devon Monnahan finishing less than a second behind Halva for second-place in the 1600m run. Tyler Johansen and Dakota Moore finished second and third, respectively, in the discus, Josh Guenther and Hunter Rowray took second and third, respectively, in the high jump, and Tanner Kuhens came away with a third-place finish in the long jump.

The NFV boys also took first place honors in the 4x100m, 4x400m, and 4x200m relays.

The NFV girls’ team made a strong showing at New Hampton as well, finishing second out of five teams. The TigerHawks amassed 151 points, 19 points behind first-place Turkey Valley but 16 points ahead of host New Hampton. Natalie Moyle took first place in the 3000m run, while Emily Creery qualified for the Drake Relays in the discus with a first-place toss of 111’ 4”. Creery also tied for second place in the shot put. The TigerHawk relay teams did well, finishing first in the 4x200m relay, 400m shuttle hurdle relay, and the 800m sprint medley relay.

Other top-three finishes for the girls included Madison Creery with a third-place finish in the 400m dash and Kourtney Pleggenkuhle with a third place finish in the 800m run and 3000m run. Natalie Fettkether and Jessica Koch claimed second and third, respectively, in the 100m hurdles, Regan Wolverton took third place in the 1500m run, and Jade Daughton finished third in the 400m hurdles.
