Wiedenhoff wins vacant council seat

Randy Wiedenhoff is the winner of Tuesday’s special election in Clermont. Wiedenhoff tallied 67 votes to win the vacant at-large seat on the City Council.

The Clermont fire chief defeated write-in candidate Dina Taylor, who received 43 votes. Meanwhile, Everett Rowland received 33 votes, and two absentee ballots were cast for Andrew J. Johnson.

While expressing his appreciation to all citizens who voted during the recent special election, Wiedenhoff said he was looking forward to serving the entire community while in office.

The newly elected councilman assumes the vacant seat of Jim Matt, who was elected Clermont’s mayor during the November 2013 general election.
