North Fayette Valley community invited to Youth Fair

Have you ever wondered whom to call when you have a question about activities are available for students on Saturday nights? Or when to call for help when dealing with a family member or friend who is using drugs or alcohol? Or maybe you want to mentor a youth and are not sure where to start.

An opportunity to get informed about these and other resources will be available for the Valley Community Coalition (VCC)-sponsored Youth Health and Well-Being Fair on Wednesday, Sept. 18. This family-oriented, open house event will run from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Elgin American Legion Hall.

Those in attendance will have the opportunity to become better acquainted with the numerous resources available to youth and their families in the area and which will further support them in the new North Fayette Valley community.

Questions will be answered by one of the many exhibitors, who will also provide information on the social problems in the area. At the same time, the achievements of the VCC will also be highlighted.

In addition to tractor/wagon and bus rides to the VCC office and Youth Center in downtown Elgin, hamburgers and pork burgers will be served.

The Valley Community Coalition, in its 13th year of existence, welcomes new supporters. The VCC looks forward to transitioning into the North Fayette Valley Community Coalition. The VCC Steering Team is willing to share, partner, encourage and assist in expanding youth support throughout the entire NFV community.

This event will highlight the opportunity for the entire NFV community to work together to support its youth.
