Memorial service held for Jane (Jirak) Gilb

Jane (Jirak) Gilb, 59, of Lakeville, Minn., formerly of Waucoma, died Friday, March 29, 2013, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minn., following a battle with cancer.

A memorial service was held Saturday, April 6, at Family of Christ Lutheran Church in Lakeville, Minn.

A private burial will be held at a later date in Lucan, Minn.

Jane (Jirak) “Janie” Gilb, daughter of Jim and Barbara (Riha) Jirak, was born June 9, 1953, in New Hampton.

She attended grade school at St. Mary’s in Waucoma and graduated from Turkey Valley High School in Jackson Junction. She attended the Minnesota School of Business in Mankota, Minn., and she later earned her master’s degree.

On July 2, 1977, Jane was united in marriage with Roger Gilb at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Little Turkey. The couple welcomed two sons into their family.

Employed all her life as an accountant, Jane was most recently employed as an accounting supervisor for the City of Prior Lake, Minn.

Jane enjoyed collecting candy dishes, milk glassware, Currier and Ives dishware, going to garage and estate sales, traveling (a highlight was visiting the Czech Republic and Germany), and spending time with friends.

She will be forever loved and remembered by those close to her.

Preceding her in death were her sister, Joyce Uhlenhake; her mother-in-law, Shirley Gilb; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Gilb.

Jane is survived by her parents, Jim and Barbara Jirak of Fort Atkinson; her husband, Roger, of Lakeville, Minn.; two sons, Anton Gilb of Burnsville, Minn., and Ben (Amy) Gilb of Lakeville, Minn.; and two granddaughters, Kali and Elizabeth.

Also surviving are two sisters, Joan (Alvin) Bakley of Tuthill, S.D., and Janet (Melvin) Bodensteiner of West Union; a brother, Jerry (Gayle) Jirak of Waucoma; brother-in-law Richard (Colleen) Uhlenhake of Ossian; her father-in-law, Clarence Gilb of Marshall, Minn.; two brothers-in-law, Ardel Gilb and Dennis Gilb of Florida; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
